Safety & Care during Youth Tours

Friendship and cultural diversity are hallmarks of every Friends of Gallipoli Youth Tour. Students gain an appreciation for the Turkish way of life living within a local community. During their stay, every effort is made to ensure students are safe, well-cared for and supervised.

Features of their home away from home include:

  • Carefully selected accommodation, chosen to ensure the very best student welfare.
  • All accompanying adults hold a Victorian government Working with Children Certificate.
  • Students participate in a range of educational, historic and Turkish cultural activities.
  • Healthy meals are provided and students are escorted to, from and during excursions.

Tour chaperones are carefully selected for each student group. So an approachable adult is always on-hand with whom young people can feel comfortable raising concerns. The chaperone’s contact details are also supplied to families at home, in case there is any need to contact a student on exchange.

Friends of Gallipoli have also developed set strategic responses to deal with unplanned events. These include illness, injury, homesickness and are in place to safeguard student welfare at all times.

At certain times, young people will have internet access to communicate with friends and family. Any tour members travelling with a mobile phone will be encouraged to purchase a suitable prepaid SIM card to phone home, in need.

Please ask us about any safety or welfare concerns not specifically addressed here.
